What it does

Google Ads 'auto-apply recommendations' (recommendation subscriptions): Google applying recommendations by itself, such as removing negative keywords or changing ad rotation without the user. action=list shows every subscription with its type and status (ENABLED = Google applies it automatically). action=pause turns auto-apply OFF: types = comma-separated recommendation types from the list, or 'all' for every enabled one. Some auto-apply types are not exposed by the Google Ads API and come back as type UNKNOWN; they cannot be changed through the API and are turned off in the Google Ads UI (Recommendations > Auto-apply); the response says so. Turning auto-apply ON is not offered here. confirm=false → dry-run preview.
