What it does

Lists the posts and Reels published on an Instagram Business account — Instagram-native content (including Reels not shared to Facebook) that list_meta_page_posts CANNOT see. Each item returns: media_id (feed it to create_meta_instagram_post_ad to run it as an ad), media_product_type (FEED/REELS), is_reel, caption, permalink, thumbnail_url, media_url, like_count, comments_count and — for Reels/videos — views, so you can pick the best-performing content. Identify the account with ANY of: page_id (from list_meta_pages, Page-linked Instagram), ig_user_id (direct, from list_meta_instagram_accounts) or account_id (resolves the ad account's connected Instagram — no Page needed). NOTE: the full ORGANIC listing needs Instagram content permission (instagram_basic), which is pending Meta App Review; when it is missing this tool does NOT fail — it returns organic_listing_available=false plus advertised_media (real, usable media_id values of Instagram posts already advertised in this ad account — pass account_id to get them). Turning an Instagram post into an ad works today either way. Every organic matching post is retained: limit controls only this response page (0 = as many as fit), and page_token=next_page_token retrieves the cached remainder without another Meta request or credit.
