What it does
Removes a submitted sitemap from Search Console. Submitting was possible, removing was not, so a stale or wrongly submitted entry stayed in the property forever and kept reporting errors — a page accidentally submitted as a sitemap, or an old WordPress sitemap_index.xml left behind after a rebuild. Deleting the entry only tells Google to stop reading that URL as a sitemap; it does not touch the file or deindex anything. sitemap_url must be the complete URL exactly as gsc_sitemaps lists it. confirm=false previews.
