Search Business Categories

Searches Google Business Profile CATEGORIES by name in any language and returns each category's id (categories/gcid:…) plus its display name. gbp_update_location's primary_category / additional_categories take this id.

Searching in the listing's own language works, and the search RELAXES when your word is not the one Google used: a Turkish word with suffixes is shortened to its stem, and a handful of business terms whose catalogue name has a different root are mapped (a common word for a service finds the catalogue's own term for it). When that happens the reply says which word actually matched: the category exists under a different name. A relaxed search only keeps categories whose name STARTS with the matched word — an unrelated query returns nothing rather than a plausible-looking wrong category. Read-only.
